The Floral Statements stamp set may only have two stamps, but there are many ways to use the stamp designs for stunning cards. Below is my third design for this week. It is a fun Hello card with a pop! If you missed the first two designs, you can check out the first one here. And, you can see the second one here.
The cards pictured above use Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper (DSP) as the background for the card front. The colors in this collection of DSP are gorgeous and provide a wonderful canvas for cards. The Hello stamp from the Floral Statements set is stamped with Archival Basic Black Ink directly onto the DSP.
Now – the fun begins. If you like to color, you will love making this card. Experiment with different combinations of colors from the Watercolor Pencils collection. And, for extra fun, use an Aqua Painter to blend the colors. I wasn’t sure if an Aqua Painter would work well on DSP but was very pleasantly surprised to find out it works brilliantly. Just be sure to use as little water as possible to blend the colors.
Did you notice the flowers are 3D? That’s the pop! Stamp the flowers from the Hello stamp onto a scrap piece of DSP. Color them using the same colors you used for the flowers on the main DSP. [Okay – You really don’t have to color the flowers on the main DSP since much of the flowers will be covered. But, I colored them anyway!] Cut out the flowers, including parts of the letters. Curl the petals to give a 3D feel. Adhere the cut flowers directly on top of the flowers on the DSP. Below are two pictures that give you a better view of the flowers.
You can finish the card by rounding the bottom corners of all layers – the DSP card front, the frame piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, and the Crumb Cake cardstock base. Also, you can add a sentiment like “Happy Birthday” or leave the card as is.
I cannot be held responsible when you go a little nutty making these cards. Trust me – you’ll thank me later!
