New Ink Pad Design!

One of the changes that you’ll notice in the upcoming new Annual Catalog is the design of the Stampin’ Up! ink pad.  If you have pre-ordered any Share What You Love bundles, you already have a new ink pad (or two) in your collection.

I’ll admit (only to you) that I was a little resistant to the new design when I received my Share What You Love bundle and new In-Color inks.  But, the more I use the new ink pads and the more that I learn new things about them, I am finding that I love the new design.  It is sleek, stackable, and easy to open.  You will love the new look and functionality.

To give all of us more information about the new ink pad design, Stampin’ Up! has created a very informative video.  Take a look at the video below.

Remember, you have until May 31 to take advantage of pre-ordering special Share What You Love bundles.  To get more information about this offer, please click here.

Amazing Congratulations – Baby Card

At a recent stamp club, the group made three cards including the fun, fresh baby congratulations card pictured below.

The two other cards that we made are also shown below. I have shared detailed information for both cards. Both cards focused on products in the Share What You Love bundle. Click on either picture below to go to the individual posts.

Here’s a personal confession – I don’t make as many baby cards as I should.  When I saw the Amazing Congratulations stamp set and all the sentiment stamps that come with the set, I was inspired to make a baby card to share at our stamp club.  It was a lot of fun to make, and the design can easily be changed to fit any color scheme.  You will love the flexibility of the Amazing Congratulations set.

Card instructions are below:

  • Start with a Whisper White card stock card base cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.
  • Cut a piece of Dapper Denim card stock to 4″ x 5 1/4″.  This will be the larger frame for the full card.
  • Cut a piece of Pool Party card stock to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″.  Use the Softly Falling embossing folder and your Big Shot to add texture to this piece.  From the picture, you’ll see that I chose to adhere the Pool Party piece to the Dapper Denim piece to allow the de-embossed side to show.  I thought the pattern looked like stars.
  • Cut a second piece of Dapper Denim card stock to 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.  This will be the background piece for the main focal point.  Note that this piece will cover the entire length of the card.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to 3″ x 5″.  This is the piece you will use for your stamping.
  • The word “Congratulations” from the Amazing Congratulations stamp set is a three-step stamp.  The Stamparatus makes stamping for this card a piece of cake!  If you don’t have your Stamparatus yet, you will definitely want to add one to your collection.  They will be available for ordering on June 1!!!
  • First, stamp the outline stamp of congratulations in a light blue ink.  I used Pool Party ink.
  • Second, stamp the part of congratulations that includes the full “g” and the full “a” in a medium shade of blue.  I used Island Indigo ink.  If you use your Stamparatus, you can also stamp the swoosh stamp at this point.  This is the design that will go over the words “on your new little one”.  Use the medium shade of blue of your choice.  Again, I used Island Indigo ink.
  • Third, stamp the part of congratulations that includes the full “c” and full “t” in a dark shade of blue.  I used Dapper Denim ink.  If you use your Stamparatus, you can also stamp the sentiment stamp that includes “on your new little one” at this point.  Use the Dapper Denim ink or the dark blue ink that you choose.
  • Add your choice of embellishments to make sure there is a little bling and twinkle to the card.  I used sequins that came in a past Paper Pumpkin kit and some (non-SU!) silver thread.  By the way – I have a lot of leftover bits and pieces from Paper Pumpkin kits that I always find ways to use!

I hope you add this card to your inventory of fun, fresh baby cards.  Obviously, you could use the base design for other occasions as well.  You’ll see that the stamps in the Amazing Congratulations stamp set provide many options for you to use.

Shown below are some of the products that I used to make this card.  If you click on any picture, you’ll go to my on-line store.

Happy stamping!

Share What You Love Suite – Wonky Triple Layer Card!

I hope you are enjoying the products in the amazing Share What You Love Suite preorder!  For more information about the opportunity we all have to get our hands on these products, please click here.  Remember, the preorder bundles are only available in May.

A few years ago, I saw a really fun technique called triple layering.  It is one of those kinds of techniques that ensures the person who receives the card literally pauses and thinks “how in the world did she make that?”.  Don’t you just love those types of cards?  Especially when they are really not hard to make?

The “wonky” triple layer card is one step up and is very straight forward to put together.  Below is a picture of the card that everyone made at a recent Stamp Club.

Okay – Have you figured out how to make the card??  Once you know the simple tips and tricks, you are going to love to add this technique to your portfolio.  Instructions are given below –

  • Start with your choice of a card base cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.  The card base for the pictured card is made from Whisper White card stock.  The large background stamp from the “Love What You Do” stamp set was used to add a border around the edges of the front of the card.  The ink is one of the new In-Colors, Grapefruit Grove.  The stamped image adds just the right amount of color and grunge to the edges.
  • Each of the three layers is made with two pieces – a piece of Whisper White card stock framed by a piece of Old Olive card stock.  The dimensions for the Whisper White card stock pieces are: 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″; 2 7/8″ x 3 7/8″; and 1 7/8″ x 2 7/8″.  Each of the pieces of Old Olive is 1/8″ wider and longer.  That means that the pieces of Old Olive are:  3 3/4″ x 5″; 3″ x 4″; and 2″ x 3″.  The 1/8″ adds the perfect amount of a frame for this type of stamping.
  • The first step to design the card is to layout the pieces before adhering any of the pieces together.  Put the card base on your work surface.  Take the largest piece of Old Olive and put it on the card base in a way that is not straight vertically or horizontally.  Lay the largest piece of Whisper White on top, allowing the Old Olive to be seen as a frame.  Continue this process with the remaining pieces of Old Olive and Whisper White.  Make sure that you overlap the framed pieces, and make sure the framed pieces are not all oriented in the same way.  This will help the design look more random.
  • When you like the pattern, you are going to layer together only the Whisper White pieces and attach them with washi tape.  Gently lift the top piece of Whisper White card stock (the smallest piece) and take out the piece of Old Olive card stock just underneath.  Try to keep the Whisper White piece in place, and use a piece of rolled up washi tape (with the adhesive on the outside) on the back of the smallest piece of Whisper White to the middle piece of Whisper White.
  • Next, gently lift the middle piece of Whisper White card stock and take out the piece of Old Olive card stock just underneath.  Again, try to keep the Whisper White piece in place.  Use another piece of rolled washi tape to adhere the middle piece of Whisper White card stock to the largest Whisper White piece.
  • You now have your three pieces of Whisper White card stock lightly adhered with washi tape.  Stamp your images onto the layered pieces of Whisper White card stock.  Make sure you allow images to be stamped over multiple layers of the card stock.
  • When you’re happy with your stamping, gently take the pieces of Whisper White card stock apart.  You’ll notice that I used the “Love What You Do” stamp set for my images.
  • Adhere the corresponding frame pieces of the Old Olive card stock to each of the three stamped pieces of Whisper White card stock.  Now, the fun part!!  Realign your stamped images (that are now framed with the Old Olive pieces) to reform the stamped images.  Adhere the pieces together.
  • Adhere the final three pieced stamped image to the front of your card.  Remember to adhere the image as you planned.

You will find many stamps that you can use with this technique.  Each card you make will be unique.

Happy stamping!

Share What You Love Suite – Quick Card

One of the cards that the group made at our May Stamp Club featured products from the amazing Share What You Love Suite Take a look at the picture below.

The products in this suite are gorgeous, versatile, and just plain fun to use!  I hope you’ll enjoy learning more about how this card is made.  I always like having some great designs in my collection that I can use as a go-to card when I need something quick.

Here are the instructions to make this card:

  • Start with a Very Vanilla Note Card as the base for the card.
  • Cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock to 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″.  Round two corners on this piece, as pictured.  Adhere the Rich Razzleberry card stock to the Very Vanilla Note Card.
  • Cut a piece of the absolutely gorgeous of the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper to 3″ x 4″.  Again, round two corners on this piece, as pictured.  Don’t adhere this piece to your card yet.
  • Cut one of the Pearlized Doilies in half.  Choose the side that you would like to show on the card.  Adhere the half doily, as pictured, to be vertically centered on the right side and close to the edge of the right side of the Rich Razzleberry card stock.  Tip:  You only need to add your favorite adhesive to the middle of the side of the doily that will not be seen!
  • Wrap a piece of the beautiful Rich Razzleberry 1/4″ Velvet Ribbon around the DSP.  Use a piece about 6″ long.  Glue and tape the ribbon on the back of the DSP to ensure it is attached.
  • Use dimensionals to adhere the ribbon wrapped DSP piece, as pictured.
  • Stamp “I’m lucky to have a friend like you” from the Love What You Do Stamp Set in Rich Razzleberry ink onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Use the second largest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits set to die cut the sentiment.  Add the sentiment on top of the DSP piece, as pictured, using dimensionals.
  • The finishing touch to the card is a few pearls from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.
