Welcome to the March NC Demos Blog Hop! This month’s theme is “Accessories make every project better”! I couldn’t agree more 🙂 A stamping project can look a little naked without some bling.
If you just came from Toni’s post, I’m sure you’ll agree with me that her project was awesome and really highlighted accessories. Thank you so much for stopping by to see what I have to share this month.
My card is a matchbox design. It’s great for showing off pretty Designer Series Paper (DSP), sparking butterflies, twine, and a beautiful rhinestone. And, it was a lot of fun to make!
The three pictures below show the front of the card, the way the matchbox design opens, and the fun image in the center of the card.
The best way to get a quick overview of how to make this card is to watch the video that is linked below. You’ll see a few tips and tricks along the way.
The basic paper measurements for the card are shown below –
- Quarter sheet (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) of Mint Macaron cardstock for the card base.
- Two pieces of the same design DSP from the Country Gingham 6 x 6 collection. Those pieces will be cut as follows –
- Each piece is cut into two pieces – one piece is 6 x 4, and the other piece is 6 x 2. Pay attention to the patterns on your initial 6 x 6 pieces to make sure you cut each piece the same way.
- One of the 6 x 4 pieces is scored at 5 inches on the 6 inch size.
- One of the 6 x 2 pieces is cut to two pieces – one piece is 4 x 2, and the other is 2 x 2. The 4 x 2 piece will be used for additional embellishments.
- The second 6 x 4 piece is cut to 5 1/4 x 4 (take 3/4 inches off the 6 inch size).
- The second 6 x 2 piece is extra.
Think of the 6 x 6 DSP that you have and how you can use those sheets of paper to make fun matchbox cards!
The Easter Bunny stamp set is just perfect for this card. I used a little masking to make the bunny’s flower crown on the front of the card. Another cute bunny and bird are stamped on the inside. The images and sentiments in this set are so nice for Easter cards and also baby cards. It is just a really cheerful set of stamps.
I used colors from both sets of Watercolor Pencils to color the stamped images. Coloring is very relaxing for me. Shading colors is very easy with the watercolor pencils. The colors blend together very well.
The accessories for this card include the beautiful DSP, a few Brushed Brass Butterflies, Linen Thread, and a Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewel. The bling is a little subtle, but I think it’s just enough for this card.
I hope you give this design a try. It really is a great way to send a message to a friend!
Be sure to continue your hop by going over to Kelly’s post. I know she has something fabulous to share, as always. And, also be sure to check out all the posts from this month’s group of NC Demos Blog Hoppers. Everyone is listed below.

Your card is just too stinkin’ cute. Love it
Tina – You’re too stinkin’ kind! Thanks so much! The bunnies are just too adorable.
This rabbit is so cute! And I love the little bits of twine and butterflies.
Thank you so much, Amanda! The rabbit is very cute and makes me smile 🙂
This card is adorable! I love how you stamped the bunny on colored cardstock, which does a lot of the coloring for you. And masking that little bit of flowers is just perfect! I’ve saved your video to review a little later today. I can’t wait to see how this card comes together 🙂
Thanks so much, Toni! The flower crown on the bunny is too cute and fun. It is a really easy card style to put together with a lot of possibilities for many occasions.
What a beautiful card Laurie. Thanks for the great video. I do need to use up 6 x 6 paper. Your coloring on the images is wonderful! I didn’t get that stamp set, but thinking …
Thanks, Jo Anne! I don’t usually use many critters in my projects, but I couldn’t help myself with these bunnies! This is a great project to use up stashes of 6 x 6 paper.
Super cute card! Great job!
Thanks so much, Tonya!
Love this card idea, Laurie! I am going to have to give this a try! Thank you SO much for sharing!
Thanks, Tracie! I’m now addicted to this type of card. Too fun to make!
