Welcome to the April NC Demos Blog Hop! This month we are featuring cards that celebrate amazing women in our lives. If you just came from Tracie Evans Langley’s post, I’m sure you enjoyed her project. She is such a talented and inspiring artist. Thanks so much for stopping by to see my project. Since we’re getting close to Mother’s Day, I thought it only appropriate to create a card that celebrates moms.
I really enjoy using grunge and texture stamps. They allow my inner child artist to just have fun and not have to think when I stamp. Timeless Textures is a great stamp set that has many different abstract designs to use on projects. It is the main stamp set that I used to create the cards shown below. I had so much fun combining the five ink colors from the 2017 to 2019 In-Colors collection and the Timeless Textures stamp set! There are three cards that I would like to share with you.
The front for each card is a piece of Whisper White card stock cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″. I used the “celebrate” embossing folder from the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders to de-emboss the main sentiment for the card. De-embossing is a great technique since it allows you to add color over the de-embossed area to highlight the words.
The addition of color came from two stamp sets. First, I used the background stamp from the You’ve Got This stamp set and Powder Pink ink to add a layer of color over the word “celebrate”. Then, I used several different stamps from the Timeless Textures stamp set and all remaining 2017 to 2019 In-Colors to layer on even more colors and designs. You’ll see that for each card I used a different combination of the In-Colors and the Timeless Textures stamps to design three unique cards. [Warning: You will likely design more than three cards since you will simply get quite addicted to this type of stamping!]
The 2017 to 2019 In-Colors are pictured below
To finish the cards, cut a frame piece of Fresh Fig card stock to 4″ x 5 1/4″. Also cut a card base of Thick Whisper White card stock to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side. Adhere the frame piece to the card base. You’ll notice that I chose to place the frame piece slightly differently on each card. On one, the frame was set to the left side of the card. On another, the frame was centered. And, on the third, the frame was set to the right side of the card. It is fun to experiment with unique ways to use the same basic pieces of paper and embellishments to add interest to your projects.
The “Mother’s Day” piece is Fresh Fig card stock stamped with the “Mother’s Day” sentiment from the Crazy About You stamp set. Ink the stamp with Versamark and heat emboss with White embossing powder. Use dimensionals to adhere the embossed piece to the card front.
Hearts are die cut from Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist card stock using a die from the Sunshine Wishes Die set. The hearts are adhered with a Fine Tip glue pen. The final embellishments are Pearls and a few sequins.
The main products that I used to create my cards are shown below. If you click on any picture, you’ll go to my on-line store.
