Two of the stamp sets that I have been using recently are Wishing You Well and Country Home. Both have beautiful images and wonderful sentiments to use on cards for many occasions. The card in today’s post uses both stamp sets and the Country Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP). Since it is meant to welcome Autumn, I hope it makes you smile 🙂
Before I get into the steps to make the card, I have a question for you. Have you ever been daydreaming and a really fun card design popped into your head? I can see you shaking your head and admitting that you have! Thank you – I don’t feel alone now 🙂 This is one of those cards.
Wreaths are such pretty decorations and are used to celebrate many different occasions throughout the year. My design epiphany was to use the wreath stamp from the Wishing You Well stamp set to create a wreath with many layers of colors. I’m going to put a tutorial together with step-by-step instructions to show you how I created the card. But, in the meantime, here are the basic directions and measurements for the card.
- The base of the card is a piece of Thick Whisper White card stock cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.
- The first layer on the card front is a piece of DSP from the gorgeous Country Lane DSP collection. There are many colors and designs in this collection that make beautiful Autumn themed projects. I wanted to highlight the gorgeous Blackberry Bliss color in the background. The DSP is cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.
- Adhere the DSP piece directly to the card front, as pictured.
- The focal point for the card is a piece of Whisper White card stock cut to 3″ x 4 1/4″. The frame piece is Old Olive card stock cut to 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″.
- I first stamped the sentiment onto the Whisper White card stock using my Stamparatus. How in the world did we stamp before we had stamp positioning tools?? I cannot believe how much easier and quicker it is to make cards with my Stamparatus.
- The sentiment comes from the Country Home stamp set. I used Old Olive ink to stamp “HAPPY harvest BLESSINGS” onto the Whisper White card stock as pictured.
- Next, stamp the multi-colored wreath. This is the step that I will explain more fully in another post with step-by-step pictures. For now, I will describe the process.
- Grab one of your clear blocks. The size D clear block is a great size for this. Use Crushed Curry ink to stamp the wreath from the Wishing You Well stamp set in the middle top section of the Whisper White card stock. I recommend stamping off once before stamping onto the Whisper White piece.
- Clean your stamp and grab your Old Olive ink. Stamp the wreath again – but this time with Old Olive – and stamp so the wreath is a little bit to the left and bottom of the first wreath that you stamped in Crushed Curry. Don’t clean your stamp and stamp the wreath with Old Olive so that the image is a little right and top of the first wreath that you stamped in Crushed Curry.
- Repeat the step above with Old Olive ink. But, this time, when you stamp first, stamp the image to the right and bottom of the initial Crushed Curry image. The second time you stamp (without reinking), stamp to the left and top of the initial Crushed Curry image.
- Repeat the last two steps above using Pumpkin Pie ink.
- The last layer of color on the wreath is Blackberry Bliss. Look at the picture below to see where the Blackberry Bliss is stamped. If you think of the wreath as a clock, the Blackberry Bliss is stamped between 8:00 and 4:00 ish. This is done intentionally since you don’t want the dark Blackberry Bliss color behind the stamped bow. Ink the wreath stamp to approximate the 8:00 to 4:00 ish and stamp the image toward the top center of the already stamped muli-colored wreath.
- The last bit of stamping is adding the bow at the bottom of the wreath. The bow stamp is from the Wishing You Well stamp set. I used Blackberry Bliss ink to stamp the bow. Confession – The bow stamp is one of my all-time favorites. It is really amazing! I used the Stamparatus to stamp the bow.
- Adhere your finished Whisper White piece to the Old Olive frame piece. Use dimensionals to add the Old Olive piece to the card front, as pictured.
- If you want, add a little bling to your wreath. I used a few sequins to add some interest.
This is a super fun and pretty quick card. I am anxious to try it with multiple colors of green and a pretty Cherry Cobbler bow for a gorgeous Christmas card. I know you will love the design and the versatility of being able to create multi-colored wreaths for many occasions.
