Welcome to the NC July Blog Hop!! This month, we are celebrating America. Yes, we have passed the July 4th Independence Day holiday — but, we’re keeping the celebration going! If you’ve just come from Tracie Evans Langley’s post, I’m sure you’ll agree that she is a very talented stamper. Thanks for stopping by to see my card.
I had the privilege of growing up as a US Air Force dependent. It was an amazing adventure! My dad proudly served in the chaplaincy for over 20 years and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. It is incredibly humbling for our entire family to realize that my dad is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. One of my profound memories of my dad is the fact that he would always stand when he heard the national anthem. It didn’t matter where he was or what he was doing. Pretty amazing! I think he would approve of my card.
If you follow my blog [stampedgreetings.com], you’ve noticed that I’m a little obsessed with embossing paste right now! Yes, I truly am. It is just too much fun to use. My card this month features embossing paste and die cuts. Did you notice, there is no stamping involved?!
The card base is Tranquil Tide (a gorgeous new In-Color) card stock. The card front is Real Red card stock. The die cuts are from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits set. As you can see, I die cut the heart thinlit using Whisper White card stock and Real Red card stock. I also die cut the word hope using Whisper White card stock and Tranquil Tide cardstock.
The bricks are created with the brick mask from the Pattern Party Decorate Masks set and two colors of Embossing Paste. The white color is straight out of the embossing paste container. The second is the white embossing paste mixed with a few drops of Tranquil Tide Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill. Mix the embossing paste and ink refill on a Silicone Craft Sheet with one of the Palette Knives.
If you look at the pictures below, I hope you can see the depth of the embossed bricks. There are three layers. The first layer was white. The second layer included some Tranquil Tide ink refill. The third was another white. I’ve noticed that it takes a few layers of the white embossing paste to cover over dark colors like Real Red.
Be sure to clean your masks and palette knives each time you use the embossing paste. This means each time you change colors as well. Warm water and soap work well to clean the masks and palette knives.
I finished the card by gluing the two heart die cuts together but offsetting the pieces. The same gluing technique was used for the two “hope” die cuts. The Fine-Tip Glue Pen is a great tool for gluing the die cuts together. Use Dimensionals to attache the die cuts to the card front.
Be sure to continue the NC Blog Hop for this month. Go over to Sue Root’s post and check out her project. If you’d like to check out the main products that I used to create my card, take a look at the pictures below. Click on any picture, and you’ll go to my on-line store.
Happy stamping!
