Painted Autumn – Happy 1st Anniversary!

Our younger daughter and son-in-law celebrated their first wedding anniversary last weekend.   I wanted to make a card that had sentimental meaning for them.  The soon-to-be-available Painted Autumn Suite did the trick.

Sunflowers have a special place in our daughter’s heart.  Steph has always loved their bright, bold color and warmth.  Well, the theme of the Painted Autumn Suite includes sunflowers.  Just perfect!  Here is the card that I made for them –

The background on the card front is a piece of watercolor paper that I made with a smooching technique.  I used a craft sheet, used ink pads to add ink to the craft sheet, spritzed some water onto the ink, and then dabbed the watercolor paper into the wet ink.  This technique is so much fun!  In my next post, I’ll share a video to show you how I designed the card front.

The Painted Harvest stamp set is the focal point of the design.  It is a two-step stamp set that has amazing depth.  I used two colors to stamp the sunflower.  The larger flower stamp was inked with Crumb Cake.  The smaller second flower stamp was inked with Early Espresso.  Remember – When you use two-step stamps, use a lighter color on the base stamp and a darker color on the top stamp.  To finish the sunflower, I used Crushed Curry to stamp the flower center.

The leaves were also stamped with two colors.  The base is Old Olive, and the second color is Garden Green.  I love the depth and detail in the leaves.

The sentiment was made with two stamps.  By masking the Stylized Birthday stamp, I was able to isolate “Happy” and stamp with Early Espresso Ink.  The “anniversary” is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  Again, by masking the “happy anniversary” stamp, I was able to just stamp “anniversary”.

The card base is Crumb Cake, and the second layer is Garden Green.  The Painted Autumn Cardstock Pack has both these colors and Early Espresso.  The coordinating cardstock packs take the guess work out of choosing paper colors that highlight the other products in the suites.

The final touch for the card is a bow made from the gorgeous new 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.  You will love it!

Below are the main products that I used to make the card.  The new Painted Autumn suite will be available for purchase beginning September 1 with the launch of the Holiday Catalog.

If you don’t have a demonstrator and would like to have a copy of the Holiday Catalog, please let me know.  I would love to be your demonstrator and will get a catalog in the mail to you.  Just leave a comment on this post.  I’ll follow-up with you to get your mailing address.

Happy stamping!
