It is unbelievable that tomorrow will be the beginning of 2024! If you came from Toni’s post (which was amazing, as usual!), you know that this month we are all creating projects with lots of bling to help us celebrate ushering in the New Year!
Thank you so much for stopping by to see the project I’m sharing to “Bling in the New Year”! The original idea for this fun backpack party favor came from Sam Hammond Donald, a very talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in the UK. I hope you like my version that is pictured below.
Love the bling on this project! The Tartan Foil Specialty paper definitely has some bling. It is currently available as an Online Exclusive product. There are a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels that are also adorning the backpack flaps. Add some Hershey’s kisses for extra bling, and you’re all set with a really fun party favor or gift box. Don’t you think a pretty, shiny necklace in the larger part and a matching set of sparkling earrings in the smaller part would make a perfect present!!!??? I really hope you give this project a try. It is very fun and easy to make!
The basic paper that you’ll need to make the backpack is listed below.
- Lost Lagoon cardstock –
- One piece cut to 8″ x 11″
- One piece cut to 4″ x 8″
- Tartan Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the Lost Lagoon color –
- One piece cut to 3 1/2″ x 1 3/4″
- One piece cut to 3″ x 3/4″
- Two pieces each cut to 1/2″ x 7″
The best way to give step-by-step instruction to make this project is to show you! Please take a look at the video linked below. Following the video, you will find the templates that I used as I cut the pieces for the backpack. You can download them for your reference.
Below you’ll find PDFs of the templates that I used in the video. I hope they are helpful to you.
Here is the first template for the larger piece of the backpack –
And, here is the second template for the smaller piece of the backpack and for the straps –
Now, be sure to hop on over to Tracie’s blog to see her amazing blinged-up project! I know it’s awesome. A list of everyone who is participating is shown below. You will find inspiration in each post. Be sure to check out the New Year projects!
Also below are the main supplies that I used to make the backpack. If you click on any picture, you’ll go directly to my online store.
