NC Demos Blog Hop – SAB Double Easel Card

If you just hopped over from Tracie’s post, you know that this month we are all featuring Sale-A-Bration products in our projects.  Wasn’t Tracie’s project awesome?  She is an amazing artist!  Thanks so much for stopping by to see my project.

Before we get to the project, let’s talk a little about Sale-A-Bration.  It’s one of my favorite events during the year and a great time to get awesome FREEBIES with your Stampin’ Up! orders.  But, time is running out since Sale-A-Bration is ending this coming Thursday, February 29.

There are quite a few options for you to choose from for your Sale-A-Bration FREEBIES.  Check out the two pictures below to see the details.  Click on the first, and you’ll see the detail of the initial brochure (pictured above).  Click on the second, and you’ll see the additional list of options that were recently announced.

Now – On to the project that I’m sharing this month.  It’s an update of a design that I used a few years ago.  I really like combining new products and a design that I haven’t used for a while.

Check out my Double Easel card below.  It features two of the Sale-A-Bration products – the beautiful Most Adored Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the versatile Heartfelt Hellos stamp set.

I love quick cards that have a fun, unique appeal.  And, I think this design fits that description.

Here are the basic steps that I followed to make the card.

  • Start with a piece of Thick Basic White card stock, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″, for your card base.  Score it at 5 1/2″ on the 11″ side.  This will be a top folding card base.
  • Next, pick the color card stock that you want to use.  You may actually want to pick the DSP that you’ll use and then match the card stock color!  I chose Real Red for my card stock since I wanted to highlight that color in the DSP.
  • The color card stock is cut to 4″ x 10 1/4″.  It is then scored at 2 1/2″ and 5″ on the 10 1/4″ side.
  • Burnish the 5″ score line as a valley fold and the 2 1/2″ score line as a mountain fold.
  • Adhere the color card stock to the front of your card base.  The largest part of the color card stock will be centered on the front of the card base.  Reference the picture above.
  • Cut two pieces of DSP that will work together well and will complement your card stock and card theme.  I used pieces from the Most Adored DSP collection.  The first piece, which will be the primary focal point, is cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″.  The second piece, which will be centered on the front easel, is cut to 3 3/4″ x 2 1/2″.  Adhere both of the DSP pieces to the color card stock as pictured above.
  • To accent the front easel, I pulled in a little more Real Red color on top of the second piece of DSP.  The Real Red piece is cut to 4″ x 1/2″.  Adhere this piece directly on top of the DSP on the front easel.
  • Now, you have unlimited possibilities to decorate your card.
  • As you’ll see from my project, I decided to use a few of the fun Paper Butterfly Accent pieces to really highlight the Real Red on DSP.  I used my bone folder to add a little bend to the butterfly wings and only adhered the body of the butterflies to the card front.

  • I also used the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment from the Heartfelt Hellos stamp set.  The sentiment was stamped onto a piece of Basic White card stock with Memento Black ink and punched out with the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch.  The punched sentiment piece was added with a few dimensionals.

  • A few of the gorgeous Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems add just the right final touch and help balance the overall design.

While this is a relatively straight-forward design, I think it has a touch of elegance and hope you do as well.  You’ll find that you can use a Double Easel card for just about any occasion.

Be sure to continue the blog hop by checking out what Frances has made this month.  I know it is a great project, as usual!  And, look at the list of February blog hoppers shown below to make sure you see all of our projects!
