Welcome to the May NC Demos Blog Hop! We are all using the gorgeous new In Colors to create projects with different coloring techniques. If you just came over from Tina’s post, I’m sure you’ll agree with me that her project was awesome. Thanks so much for stopping by to see what I am sharing!
Usually, it takes me a while to appreciate the five new In Colors that Stampin’ Up! introduces each year. This year, I was instantly in love with each of the colors. They work together incredibly well, complement other SU! colors, and truly stand on their own. Take a look at the fun graphic that highlights the new colors.
The project that I made to share with you highlights all the new In Colors, the stunning Spotlight on Nature stamp set and dies, and the Dashing Designs 3D embossing folder. It is a very fun card to make!
Here are the basic steps that I used to create the card –
- Start with a piece of watercolor paper cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″. Use Stazon ink to stamp the flower image from the Spotlight on Nature stamp set onto the watercolor paper. Be sure to let the stamped image dry well. It shouldn’t take long to dry.
- Scribble some ink from the 2024-2026 In Color Stampin’ Write Markers onto an acryllic block. The block will be your palette for your inks. Use your Water Painters to add color to the stamped image. Simply pickup some ink with the Water Painter and brush the ink onto the flower. If you haven’t watercolored with Water Painters before, cut a small piece of watercolor paper to use as your practice piece.
- Just enjoy the process of adding colors to the flowers, stems, leaves, and the background. I find watercoloring to be very relaxing and therapeutic!
- If the ink dries out on your block, no worries! You will be able to regenerate the dried ink with your Water Painter. I have literally left dried ink on my block overnight and used the dried ink the following day.
- When you’re happy with the watercolored focal point, cut the piece down to 3″ x 4 1/4″.
- The finished card starts with a card base made from Thick Basic White. It’s a standard A2 card base (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side).
- The first layer is a piece of the new, beautiful Peach Pie cardstock cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. Before you attach it to the card base, emboss the piece with the Dashing Designs 3D embossing folder. Attach the finished piece, as pictured.
- The focal point starts with a piece of the new, fun Shy Shamrock cardstock cut to 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″. Emboss this piece with the Dashing Designs 3D embossing folder, as pictured.
- Adhere your watercolored piece to the Shy Shamrock cardstock piece. If you want, layer these two pieces together in a wonky way, as pictured.
- Wrap a piece of the Petunia Pop Bordered Ribbon around the combined focal point.
- Tuck a strand of Linen Thread under the ribbon and tie the thread into a bow.
- Attach the combined focal point piece to the card front with dimensionals.
- Stamp and die cut your sentiment. The sentiment is stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The sentiment is from the Country Birdhouse stamp set. It is die cut using one of the smaller dies from the you-have-to-have-these-in-your-stash Spotlight on Nature dies and adhered directly to the focal point.
- The final touch for the card are a few of the 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems!
