I cannot believe we are almost (officially) at the beginning of the Autumn season. This summer has been a great one, but, honestly, I am ready for cooler weather and basketball season! When I saw the products in the Country Lane Suite, I fell in with them and could not wait to use them in card projects.
In a prior post, I shared a fun card that I made with Country Lane Suite products. Please click here to see it. Today, I’d like to share another card made from the products. The card is pictured below and features the wonderful new Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. You REALLY should consider adding this embossing folder to your collection!
Below are directions and tips to make today’s card.
- The card base is a piece of Thick Whisper White card stock cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side. Thick Whisper White card stock is one of my favorites for card bases.
- The first layer is from Cajun Craze card stock. Cajun Craze is a beautiful and versatile color for Autumn. The card stock is cut to 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″. The piece is embossed with the fun, new Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (EF). To add a little more interest to this background piece, I sponged the piece with Early Espresso ink. My recommendation is to add a hint of color around the edges. If the sponging is a little random, the result is even more intriguing.
- The next layer is a piece of the new Galvanized Metallic Paper cut to 4″ x 4″. Use the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions EF to emboss this piece. Cut the piece in half to have two pieces that measure 2″ x 4″.
- Now, grab your Old Olive card stock. This is another staple in my card stock since the color is so useful on many, many cards. Cut the Old Olive card stock to 2 3/4″ x 4″.
- Use Early Espresso ink to stamp images from the Country Home stamp set onto the Old Olive piece. From the picture above, you can see that I stamped the milk can and floral arrangement onto the Old Olive.
- Use Early Espresso ink to stamp the milk can onto a piece of Gray Granite card stock. Have I mentioned that I absolutely love the new Gray Granite color?!
- Use your choice of colors from the Watercolor Pencil set to color the floral arrangement on the Old Olive card stock. I chose colors that I thought looked like Autumn. Use the Basic Gray watercolor pencil to add shading to the milk can stamped on the Gray Granite card stock.
- Fussy cut the milk can that is stamped on the Gray Granite card stock and adhere the cut milk can image on top of the milk can that you stamped onto the Old Olive piece, as pictured. This technique is called paper piecing. It is a great technique to use when you want to add a layer to an image. You use the initial stamp on the Old Olive card stock to align the image that you stamped on the Gray Granite card stock. It also hides any imperfections that you had when you tried to stamp the floral arrangement perfectly on top of the milk can 🙂
- Use Early Espresso ink to stamp the tag image from the Country Home stamp set onto a piece of scrap Designer Series Paper that complements the colors you have used to color your focal point. I used a piece of the gorgeous Country Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP). Then, stamp “HELLO” from the same stamp set in the middle of the tag with Early Espresso ink. Fussy cut the stamped tag, and adhere it directly onto the milk can, as pictured.
- Use a few pieces of scrap Cajun Craze card stock to add a framed look on either side of the Old Olive piece, as shown. I cut a few pieces of scrap to just over 4″ long and around 1/2″ wide. Adhere these pieces to the underneath sides of your Old Olive piece. Trim these pieces to make sure the edges align with the edges of the Old Olive piece.
- To assemble the card:
- Adhere the embossed and sponged Cajun Craze piece directly to the front of the card base, as pictured.
- Next, adhere the two pieces of the embossed Galvanized Metallic Paper on top of the Cajun Craze piece, as shown, using Dimensionals.
- Finally, adhere the finished Old Olive piece to the front middle of the card with dimensionals.
