Paper Pumpkin – Season of Gratitude

I have been a Paper Pumpkin subscriber since the program started, and I can honestly say that the Season of Gratitude shaker card kit is one of my all-time favorites.  Here is a picture of one of the cards.

I’d like to pass along a few tips and tricks for making the shaker cards with this kit.  Even if you’ve made shaker cards before, I hope you’ll learn something new!

First – I always adhere a few sequins to the back of the shaker area.  This will ensure there are always a few sequins that are visible.  Take a look at the picture below.  I was able to tell where to put the sequins by putting the card front over the stamped squares after they were glued to the card front.

Another tip is how to make the shaker boxes.  If you want to make a box around each leaf, follow the pictures below.  Put the long strips of adhesive on first.  Then, add the short strips to the ends.  Make sure there are no openings that will allow the sequins to escape.  The last step is adding adhesive between the leaves.  Again, make sure there are no openings.

Now, here’s a tip that I think is brilliant.  No – It wasn’t my idea!  I saw this on another blog and wish I could remember the author.  Take your embossing buddy and wipe it around the inside of each “box”.  When the anti-static powder attaches to the exposed adhesive on the inside of the “box”, the sequins will be less likely to stick.  Told you it was brilliant!

Since you have made three, individual boxes, you’re going to need to make three, individual piles of sequins.  Make sure you add sequins from each of the three sizes provided in the kit, and make sure the sequins are in the middle of the stamped squares.

Peel off the back of the adhesive.  Then, hover over the card front and the piles of sequins.

I love the stamp set that came with the set.  But, I decided to look through my Paper Pumpkin stamp stash to see if there were other stamps that might work well.  Two previous Paper Pumpkin stamps caught my eye.  One was for birthdays and the other for hello.  Make sure that you look through your stamp stash to see which sets offer you options.

Speaking of options, I also decided to add a little texture to the banner behind the sentiment.  Take a look at the picture below.  You’ll see that the banner was stamped with the crackle stamp from the kit.  This extra touch helps bring the design together.

If you’re not a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, after seeing this post, I bet you’re going to signup for the December kit!  By the way, you only have until November 10 to signup.  Don’t wait – just click here and signup!

Happy Stamping!
