Do you feel a little challenged some times making one layer cards that have that “wow” factor? I certainly do. I hope you agree that the cards pictured below have great depth and interest. They are one layer cards and are quite a lot of fun to make!
Recently in a separate post, I shared a card that was made using the same technique and one of the new stamp sets, Layering Love. If you haven’t already, take a look at that post and the detailed instructions – https://stampedgreetings.com/layering-love-one-layer-card-magic/
The stamp set that I used for the cards pictured above is Birthday Blossoms. It is a carryover from the last annual catalog and has so many possibilities. The “happy birthday” is stamped in Memento black ink then masked with a 3/4″ cut piece of copy paper. In addition to using the directions that I outlined in the initial post (link above), I also used a masking technique to stamp multiple flowers from the Birthday Blossoms set in Memento black ink. Then, I used the background brushstroke stamps from the Work of Art stamp set to add the colors. These cards highlight the new in-colors. On the left pictured card, the colors are Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, and Sweet Sugarplum. On the right pictured card, the colors are Peekaboo Peach, Dapper Denim, and Emerald Envy.
Here are a few pictures that show more detail in the cards:
This technique can be used for essentially any word stamp that you want to highlight. Just vary the width of the copy paper that you use to mask the colors. It is a great design for mass production and several occasions. I hope that you give it a try. I would love to see your one layer cards!
Here are the products that I used to make these cards. Click on any picture below, and you’ll go to my on-line store. Birthday Blossoms is a stamp set that I think you would enjoy having in your collection.
