Retiring Happy Birthday Die

Thank you so much for the feedback on my recent Mother’s Day card post.  Today’s post (literally) puts a twist on that design and showcases a quick, fun birthday card.  It features a few retiring products that you should consider purchasing before they are no longer available.  Take a look at the card below.

Below are the basic steps that I used to create this birthday card.

  • Start with a base for your card made from Thick Very Vanilla card stock.
  • The rectangle that is adhered directly to the card base is Basic Black card stock cut with the largest die in the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies.
  • The next rectangle that is adhered directly to the Basic Black piece is Garden Green card stock cut with the second largest die in the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies.  You’ll notice that I used a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to add faux stitching to the edges of the Garden Green piece.
  • The focal point Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the gorgeous Garden Impressions DSP collection.  The colors in this collection are so bright, beautiful, and useful for many different types of cards.  And, this DSP is retiring!!
  • The sentiment is made from two die cuts using the retiring Happy Birthday Thinlits Die.  The back die cut is Very Vanilla, and the front die cut is Basic Black.  Use your favorite adhesive to glue the two die cut pieces together.  Make sure to leave a little hint of the Very Vanilla peeking out from behind the Basic Black.  Tip:  Switch the order of the die cuts (Very Vanilla on top) to see if you like that design better.

This design can easily be made into either a feminine or masculine themed birthday card.  Just change the DSP that you’re using.  You could also make a really nice children’s themed card with a cute DSP and maybe different color die cuts for the happy birthday sentiment.  Endless possibilities!

I hope you enjoy adding this design to your portfolio.  Below are the main products that I used to create this card.  If you click on any picture, you’ll go directly to my on-line store.

Happy stamping!
