NC Demos Aug Blog Hop – Farewell to Summer

Welcome to the August NC Demos Blog Hop!  I hope you just came from Toni’s post and enjoyed her project as much as I did.  She is an amazing, talented artist!  Thank you so much for stopping by to see the card that I am sharing this month.

Our blog hop theme is focused on scenic views.  We have so many wonderful stamp sets, dies, and papers available to us in the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs that can be used to create amazing scenes.  Narrowing down choices for this theme was a little tough!

To say that the last several months have been challenging, unprecedented, and stressful would be an incredible understatement.  I would venture to say that they have also been a time when I have been able to focus more on what is truly important – faith, family, and friends – the flowers in my life!  Slowing down and spending more time at home has really made me become simply thankful for all the good things.

Since we are getting close to the end of summer, I decided to focus on a design that would help me reflect over the last few months.  Typically, my husband and I spend quite a bit of the summer in upstate New York with our family.  Unfortunately, we were not able to travel north this year.

The bright, beautiful flowers in the card, pictured below, remind me of family and friends that usually fill our summer days with fun, laughter, and wonderful memories.  Our family and friends are even more special to me these days.

The sentiment sums up my feelings when I look back on this summer.  I truly am simply thankful for all the good things.  And, I trust that my gratitude will only continue to grow as we move into the next season.

  • The card base is a slim line card design.  The dimension are 8″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4″ on the 8″ side.
  • The flower images in my card are from the beautiful Grace’s Garden stamp set.  I used several Watercolor Pencils to color the flowers.
  • There are many die cut elements in the card.  They are from the Garden Gateway die collection.

  • The sentiment is from the Country Home stamp set, and it is stamped in Mango Melody ink.
  • The papers used on the card include a piece of the absolutely amazing In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (DSP), Mango Melody cardstock, Smoky Slate cardstock, and Basic Gray cardstock.
  • The piece of Smoky Slate cardstock just behind the garden trellis is embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.

I hope each of you is taking time for yourself, family, and friends as we all continue to navigate our current environment.  And, maybe the phrase – Simply thankful for all the good things – will make the journey a little easier!

Now, be sure to hop on over to Tracie’s post to see her amazing project.  I know it is going to be wonderful, as always.  And, be sure to take time to visit all of this month’s bog hoppers posts.  A complete list is shown below.

Also below, you’ll find pictures of the main items that I used to make my card.  If you click on any picture, you’ll go directly to my on-line store.

Happy stamping!

Laurie, first, thanks for your kind words! I think we have an amazingly talented group of stampers in our blog hops 🙂 And yes, this has been an unprecedented year for everyone. I hate that you weren’t able to travel to update NY. I’ve heard it’s beautiful there. I really love your card, and the colors you used!

Toni – We definitely have an amazing group. I always learn many new tips and tricks in our blog hops. It has been very tough not being able to go to NY this summer. Hopefully, next summer will be different. Thanks for the comments on my card.

Oh how I love the In Good Taste DSP! It is perfect for you card. Great job using the garden gate. I don’t own it but may need to borrow it from a demonstrator friend. Hehe

I bought the Grace’s Garden bundle last spring when I saw that it would be carried over. I haven’t used it. You are inspiring me to give it some love. Beautiful card and beautiful thoughts to go along with it. Hopefully next year you can get back to some New York summer! Thanks for sharing.
